The Senior VP Of Security At Madison Square Garden Has Reportedly Been Fired
DNA Info- Madison Square Garden owner James Dolan has fired his top security chief in the wake of this week’s clash between Knicks legend Charles Oakley and arena security personnel during a nationally televised game, DNAinfo New York has learned. Frank Benedetto, the senior vice president for security at the Madison Square Garden Company, was fired Friday morning, a source said.
The move comes two days after Oakley became embroiled in a pushing and shoving match with security personnel just a few rows behind Dolan’s courtside seats and was hauled off and arrested by the NYPD in front of TV cameras. Backlash from Knicks fans and NBA players shocked at Oakley’s treatment was swift and fierce. “We don’t comment on employees that have left the company,” Madison Square Garden Company spokesman Barry Watkins said Friday.
CUE THE MUSIC!!!
Two ways to look at this one. First you could say that James Dolan disagreed vehemently with the way MSG security acted when they approached Charles Oakley and had to make a change. If you believe that, go help OJ find the real killers.
Orrrrrrr you could say that Dolan probably didn’t like that Madison Square Garden has yet AGAIN completely bungled this entire situation and managed to go lower than the previous low that was thought to be rock bottom. If MSG was planet Earth, we would have already hit rock bottom, hammered right through that, ripped through Earth’s molten core, and came back on the other side somewhere in China. Hitting rock bottom isn’t a phrase at Madison Square Garden. It’s a way of life.
In fact I am so sure that Benedetto was just a fall guy, I’d be willing to be that James Dolan’s browser is open to this video right now, which he watched before waddling to the nearest phone to fire Benedetto:
James Dolan. Fucking DUNCE.
